Walking By

Your wife’s put on a little weight. She was shutting the drapes last week and I noticed. I knew she had a problem taking it off after the baby, but it seems to be out of hand now. The garden looks nice, real Californian. You always did love growing things. I hope you didn’t spray any dangerous stuff on it, what with the new one crawling already. By the way, your right front tire is a little low, although radials always fool me. Be careful just in case, especially with the way you drive. Or used to. Probably have slowed down some, family responsibility and everything. The other night you were working awful late in your studio— just an outline, really— your hair in your eyes when you hunched over the light table. Bet it’s a mess in there. Bet she tries to clean it when you’re at work. Now that I’ve moved out here keeping up with things will be a lot easier. It’s always great to see your home and family, and naturally to see you. Get that tire checked out.
